the pulmo concept is a re-imagining of an underwater breathing apparatus. In principle, the mask functions as “reverse lungs” meaning the mask takes in the user’s exhalation and processes the carbon dioxide to provide the user with oxygen. To ensure the user has enough breathing air, the mask also has synthetic gills. The mask is made thru a process involving 3d printing (scaffold/frame) and a secondary process of self-assembly for the biological parts (air filter).
