adidas

This project, originally intended for my masters thesis, was a collaboration with the Adidas Innovation Team. The goal of the project was to use biomimicry to resolve design issues in performance basketball footwear: traction, weight and support. Eventually, the project went on to focus solely on weight as at the time Adidas had the lightest basketball shoe on the market and we felt important to focus on that mandate. Of all the natural references available for this project, we settled on looking into insect wings to get insights into creating a lighter shoe upper construction.

These images are from a written report handed in at the end of the project.
